There are not so many smokers who started smoking after the age of 18. In fact, majority of smokers took up the very habit of smoking in their early or mid teens.

In such a young age, you wouldn’t really think about the fitness effects of smoking and you certainly would not realize how addictive smoking can be until you feel its effects on your body. As a teenager you may probably think that you can try smoking a few times and then leave it just so easily.

However, the reality is that it does not take long to become addicted to nicotine. Within a short period of time, children can definitely experience the same cravings.

There are just several reasons why children or teenagers start smoking at such an early age. It’s addicting effects can be similar as to being drawn into eating junk foods. You know that it hinders how to lose weight fast but you simply cannot just stop so easily...

Peer pressure plays an important part of it. Many children start the smoking habit because their friends have tried it or smoke themselves.

Those children may actually have started as they have grown up in a place where their parents, grandparents and older siblings smoke, and so they smoke in order to look and act like them.

Other children on the hand, start smoking as an act of rebellion or defiance against their parents or people of authority around them.

Some of the children may also start to smoke if they have low self-esteem. Smoking may get them in with the crowd and help them to make friends with other people. They feel that if they smoke, then they will be accepted by their peers.

Some children have said that they smoke to appear older and more grown up, especially if they are surrounded by young adults who smoke.
